The Soul of Kiri

The Soul of Kiri
Why would a girl from Amsterdam travel all the way to Japan for matcha? Because Kiri isn’t just a brand, it’s a story.

I discovered matcha in 2014. As a passionate chef, I loved experimenting in the kitchen, and matcha quickly became one of my favorite ingredients ,not just to drink, but to bake with too.

Coffee always left me feeling wired and then exhausted, but matcha was different. It gave me steady energy and helped me feel clear and focused. Over time, it became a daily ritual, a moment to slow down, whisk, and be present.

Nowadays, there’s so much matcha everywhere, but what’s missing to me is the story and the soul behind it, the transparency.
There is a lot of low-quality matcha being sold at high prices, and honestly, it feels wrong. That’s why I had to go to Japan myself, to learn straight from the source and share those stories with you. We need to honor the culture, where it comes from, and respect it!

So why KIRI?

In Japanese, kiri means “mist.”
It feels soft, calm, and a little mysterious, like those quiet early mornings when everything is still, when the world hasn’t fully revealed itself yet, but somehow feels meaningful. Mist is about the in-between. That’s what Kiri is for me: a reminder of slowness, softness, and simply being. A quiet kind of growth, where you don’t have to force anything, and you don’t need to have it all figured out. I wanted Kiri to be a reflection of my journey, something that carries a part of me and shares my story

The truth is, I started Kiri because my mind was everywhere. I had lived in different countries, tried different studies, explored different hobbies, I was always floating, never really landing. Starting my own business grounded me and gave me focus, clarity, and purpose.

Kiri brings together everything I love: storytelling, design, connecting with people, cooking, creating, sharing. For a long time, I was afraid to do something that might actually work. Afraid to grow. Afraid to take up space.

But this time, I don’t want to give up. Even if it’s slow. Even if it’s vulnerable. Because Kiri reminds me that slowing down is sacred. That softness is strong. That growth doesn’t have to be rushed, it can be intentional, gentle, and safe.

So, Kiri isn’t just a matcha brand for me. It’s my way of becoming.

And when you choose Kiri, you’re choosing more than premium, organic, direct-from-farm matcha. You’re choosing a story, one rooted in patience, in beauty, and in the courage to grow softly.

If you’re still reading, thank you for being here and for your time. <3

With love,
Andrea
